Departing Uturoa, with Bora Bora in the distance we steamed out the channel between Raiatea and Tahaa.
Approaching us was Regent's PAUL GAUGIN. Ahead of us she turned to starboard and slipped out through a channel in the barrier reef. Turning to port, we followed her.
In these pictures, note the water surface at the barrier reef. The waves passing over the reef created the illusion of pouring into a sunken pool.
Night arriving with its usual equatorial abruptness, the ship continued but my picture taking stopped. ROTTERDAM anchored in Vaitape, Bora Bora about 8:00 PM.
