We are back on board and in open water after a great day on Kauai.
Upon disembarking we were met by our friends Dave & Joan (picture taken in Cuttyhunk in 2011) who have a condominium on the southern part of the island. We last
saw them having dinner at Beverly Yacht Club before they escaped the
dreary part of winter in Massachusetts.
We bundled into their car and headed for Kokee National Park. The weather in Kauai had been consistently poor for over a week but sun in a widening expanse of blue sky suggested we might get some good views. We did!
Joan & Dave said it had been several years since they had seen these views with so little haze, so we felt fortunate indeed.
We wiggled our way back down the twelve miles of twisting road, then drove to their condo. What a great location! We had lunch at the golf club next door after which it was time to head back to the ship.
As we confessed to Dave & Joan, we had built into our schedule a two hour buffer. This buffer enabled us to enjoy our day with them without concern about returning to the ship before it sailed. Had the ship left without us, it would have taken a great deal of money and over a week to catch up with it.
We had a great day and were standing on our balcony when the ship left the pier - a win-win.
